Bren Simmers

Live Writer/Poet

Bren is a published P.E.I author of four books of poetry, the most recent, The Work, being released this month; If, When; Hastings-Sunrise, which was a finalist for the City of Vancouver Book Award; and Night Gears, as well as her first book of non-fiction, Pivot Point. Bren has also won the 2022 CBC Poetry Prize for Spell World Backwards.

Carrie Lundy

Carrie is a published author and amazing yoga instructor originally from Winnipeg. Her event Eagle Flow in collaboration with fellow poet, Julie, is an Island Tides favourite. Her book of poetry, so hum, is available in local shops and on Amazon.

Charlie Kennedy

Much to our delight, Charlie is in the process of sorting through years of brilliant writings to publish! A veteran of the Canadian Forces, Charlie brings honesty and compassion to all of his work. Currently, you can find his poetry on Charlottetown Yoga Space IG and Facebook.

Deirdre Kessler

Deirdre is a celebrated author and PEI's 2016-2019 Poet Laureate whose published works include: Afternoon Horses, The Jubilence of Jig, Subtracting by Seventeen, Rearranging the Sky (poetry), Darwin's Hornpipe (novel), Adventures of an Island Cat Named Brupp, and Lobster in My Pocket (children's).

Ellen Egan

Ellen is a writer, content creator, and marketing manager who lives with her little family on the north shore of PEI. Challenged with rich infusions of inspiration from the natural world, her poetry invites us to reflect on our relationship with self, each other, and the world around us as we navigate the seasons of our lives. She’s working on a poetry book that will be out whenever it is ready.

Julie Pellissier-Lush

Julie is a Mi’kmaq storyteller, photographer, actor, drummer, best-selling author, and the first Indigenous Poet Laureate for PEI. Through her creative works, she celebrates and shares the stories of the Mi’kmaq on PEI. Julie scripted the play Mi’kmaq Legends, performed across the Island for over 12 years, and is currently writing a ghost storybook with the Elders of PEI, and two children’s books.

Kailea Switzer

Kailea is a counselling therapist and personal development coach. Her children’s book I Feel That Way Too came out earlier this year. Having moved from PEI to LA and back again, she is working on a book about the journey of trying to come home – both to ourselves, and to each other.

Annie Martin

Live Artist

Annie is a Mi’kmaw artisan and owner of RoseWolf Creations. Growing up by the forest and ocean, she uses these elements and Mi’kmaq designs & motifs throughout her work. She is self-taught in the art of woodburning and each piece in her collection, from suede hats to wall art, is made with love and fire. Crafted using locally- sourced wood wherever possible, there’s a connection to nature and sustainability in everything she creates. Annie is in the midst of creating a custom wood-burnt and painted wall mural for the Island Tides Festival, which she will finish and debut at the Tides Penthouse Poetry Social.

Emilea May

Emilea May is an emerging island songstress who’s songs resonate with the raw beauty of her surroundings. With tones of indie, folk, pop & rock, she is known for her soothing vocals and introspective lyrics that cut to the core. Emilea's music is honest and it offers a glimpse into her soul. She weaves tales inspired by the mysteries of creation, the bonds of human connection, and the transformative journey of motherhood.

Justyn Thyme

Live Musician

Justyn Thyme is the artistic emancipation of ECMA nominated and Music PEI award winning Justyn Young, a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter, proud member of the low-vision/blind community, and a child of Charlottetown, PEI. Having developed as a creator out of a collage of influences ranging from East Coast Roots and Americana to Mongolian Throat Singing and modern Soul fusion, he delivers a freshness of insight and musicality which reflects his deep relationship with self and the world.
